Dr Peter Gardner has an Honours Degree in Psychology from Nottingham University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Academic Psychology from University College London, a Master of Arts Degree in Therapy and Counselling from Antioch College, USA and a Doctorate from the University of Bristol.

Dr Peter Gardner
Within the British Psychological Society, Peter is recognised in areas of competence and expertise denoted by the following titles:
Chartered Educational Psychologist
Chartered Forensic Psychologist
Chartered Counselling Psychologist
Chartered Scientist
Full Practitioner Member, Division of Neuropsychology
Within the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy, Peter is recognised as a Registered Psychotherapist.

Appleford School
In 1988 Peter co-founded Appleford School, Shrewton, Salisbury. Appleford is an independent co-educational school for children aged 7-14 who have Dyslexia and associated learning difficulties such as Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, ADHD and communication disorders. Appleford is approved by the DCSF under Section 342 of the Education Act 1996. It is approved by CReSTeD (the accrediting branch of the British Dyslexia Association) and by the IAPS (Independent Association of Preparatory Schools).

In Autumn 2008 Appleford was rated as an Outstanding school by Ofsted both for the quality of education and also for the quality of care.
Daneswood Care Home
In 2006 Peter co-founded Daneswood Care Home, Shipham, Somerset. Daneswood is a home for 17 young people currently aged 18-25 with severe and profound and multiple learning difficulties. Most of the young people have severe communication difficulties, some are on the autistic spectrum, some have epileptic conditions and a number have significant physical difficulties. Daneswood aims to provide a caring community where individual rights are respected, individual living skills are developed and individuals’ quality of life is enhanced. Daneswood seeks to foster and encourage principles of dignity, responsibility and self-worth. It will nurture the individual in all aspects: physical, emotional, social and spiritual.

In February 2009 Daneswood was rated as a Good care home by CSCi.
